The Big Bear Mountain coaster boasts a top speed of 48 mph and soars 66 feet above the forest. With three separate launches, multiple airtime hills, high-speed carousel turns, tunnel zips, and even a pass behind a waterfall, this roller coaster promises an unforgettable ride. It's also the first Dollywood attraction to feature on-board audio, adding another layer of excitement to the experience.
Designed with families in mind, Big Bear Mountain has a 39-inch height requirement, making it accessible to thrill-seekers of all ages. As Dollywood’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Pete Owens noted, creating ride experiences that involve the whole family aligns with the park's mission and Dolly Parton's vision.
At a cost of $25 million, Big Bear Mountain is the largest investment for a single attraction in Dollywood history. The coaster is part of a larger plan to invest half a billion dollars into the park over the next decade, transforming it into a year-long destination.
Dollywood Diamond season passholders will be the first to try out the ride after the grand opening ceremonies, which will feature Dolly Parton herself. Although Parton has joked about not wanting to ride the coaster due to motion sickness, she's expressed interest in trying it out at least once, since it's a family-friendly attraction.
